Episode 21: North of the Mason-Dixon

You read that correctly, I am now living above the Mason-Dixon Line! It feels crazy to type and started just as crazy an urge to reevaluate my perspective. Moving has really got me thinking this idea of an idealized North that’s a haven for minorities and free thought. It’s kind of sad that it took me moving to start this line of thinking, but that’s what happens when you don’t question. It’s also kind of nice to find a blindspot, a new area that I can explore with freely after I get rid of my perceptions I came into Michigan with.

If you had a preconceived idea of the North or South and then moved, please share your experiences at somekindofbrown@gmail.com or on our Facebook Group, Some Kind of Brown World. I hope that my ramblings about evaluating myself touch you or make you think that you’re not alone if you’ve had any of these thoughts. Love you guys! See you in two weeks!
