Episode Six – Dividing Lines of Hot Springs, Community, and the Internet is Scary

So much of our experience as Mixed/Multiracial people comes from where we grew up, I know that is especially true for me. As I’ve talked to more people from across the United States and from other countries, it’s hard for them to picture some of the stories I’ve told them. I thought it might help to give more context for my experiences if I told all of you about what Hot Springs was like in the past and how that’s affected the city up until when I was in school. I hope that some of my story resonates with you, whether it was finding a home away from home of sorts in the Vietnamese and Taiwanese communities, my reconnecting to my cultures as an adult, or growing up in a city that still has scares from it’s racist history.
